Tour: Ricciotti's Shamrock Shuffle
This summer, Ireland is the Ricciotti ensemble's travel destination. We beat at Ricciotti's Shamrock Shuffle bridges with our European partners on the other side of England, who have become somewhat isolated by Brexit. The orchestra immerses itself in Ireland's famous musical culture: from the world's best-selling pop artists Enya and U2 to the folk music of The Dubliners and The Pogues. Irish viola player Séamus Hickey will join as soloist and, in addition to classical works by, among others Charles Villiers Stanford, also show off his fiddle and even singing skills. Before we travel to Cork, Dublin and Galway, we also share our six days in the Netherlands caric agus ceoli!
Soloist: Séamus Hickey
During Ricciotti's Shamrock Shuffle, viola player Séamus Hickey will be soloing with the Ricciotti. This musician grew up with Irish folk music and later also studied classical viola at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He was a guest leader at the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, soloed with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and won several prizes as a soloist, including his Sonoro Quartet. So this summer, Hickey will also be out with the Ricciotti and will appear in a modern work for viola and orchestra by Garth Knox, but also in a nocturne by John Field.
